Trump’s tariff policy uses forced-labour language to defend arbitrary protectionism, and Stiglitz says Europe should answer with reciprocal tariffs and scrutiny of U.S. labour abuses. The question now is whether that response exposes the pretext or lets Washington keep setting the terms of trade.
